An ancient breed from Thailand, the Thai Ridgeback was virtually unknown outside its native country until the mid-1970s. Traditionally used for hunting, guarding, and following carts, its geographic isolation allowed it to retain its natural instincts with little outside influence. Today, it is primarily a loyal and protective companion dog. However, it tends to be wary of strangers and other dogs, and without proper socialization, it may become aggressive or overly shy.
