This medium-sized hound is built for agility, enabling it to maneuver through steep and rugged terrain. Developed in the mountainous regions of Austria and Slovenia, it has honed its hunting skills over generations. Also known as the Peintingen Hound—named after its 18th-century breeder—it is a cross between a Hanoverian Scent Hound and an Istrian Wire-haired Hound (opposite). Despite its hunting background, it can be a calm and well-mannered pet.
