A rare breed, the Schillerstovare is highly valued for its exceptional speed and endurance, particularly when hunting over snow-covered terrain. Its thick coat provides excellent insulation against cold climates. Unlike pack hunters, this hound tracks prey—typically hare or fox—alone, using a deep, resonant bay to signal its location. It is named after its breeder, Per Schiller, a Swedish farmer.
