Believed to be the oldest of the French pack hounds, this breed hails from Franche-Comté, near the French–Swiss border. It is named after the glossy, glaze-like sheen of its striking white coat. Traditionally used for hunting deer and wild boar, it requires ample exercise and patient training if kept as a pet.
