An ancient aristocrat, the Pekingese traces its lineage back to the Tang Dynasty (618–907 CE), where it was considered sacred and exclusively owned by Chinese royalty. A perfect apartment dog, it enjoys exercise but does not require long walks. Intelligent and fearless, it is a loyal but sometimes stubborn companion that can be challenging to train.
