Friendly, trusting, and easy to manage when not on the hunt, the Norwegian Hound—also called the Dunker—was bred to track hare in snow, enduring temperatures as low as -15°C (-59°F). Named after Captain Wilhelm Dunker, this breed was developed in the early 1800s by crossing Norwegian and Russian hare-hounds.
