Originally known as a poacher’s dog, the Lurcher was traditionally a first-generation cross between a sighthound and either a terrier or a herding dog, bred for hunting rabbits and hares. Today, Lurchers are also bred among themselves, ideally reaching greyhound size. Despite their hunting background, Lurchers are calm, tolerant, and excellent family pets.
