In some countries, this particular color variation of the Newfoundland is recognized as a separate breed. Named after British artist Sir Edwin Landseer, who frequently depicted them in his paintings, the Landseer shares all the same characteristics as the solid-colored Newfoundland. It is gentle, friendly, and reliable, with the only difference being its distinctive bicolored coat.
