The Lancashire Heeler, an intelligent, tough, and workman-like breed, is well suited to its original role as a cattle-herder in northern England. It is believed to have resulted from crosses between the Pembroke Welsh Corgi (see p.56) and the Manchester Terrier (see p.211). Less prone to “nipping” than other heelers, this smart and attractive little dog can be a great family companion if trained properly.
