Also known as the Friaar Dog, this sturdy and muscular breed was introduced to Iceland by early settlers. Its agility across rugged terrain and ability to navigate shallow water made it an excellent herding dog. As a pet, the Icelandic Sheepdog needs plenty of exercise. It comes in two coat varieties: long-haired and short-haired.
