The German Spitz comes in three sizes: Klein (small), Mittel (standard), and Gross (giant), with the first two recognized by the KC and the largest by the FCI. These dogs descend from Arctic herding breeds once used by nomadic tribes. Independent by nature, they require patient and firm training to prevent stubborn behavior. Once their role in the family is established, they are cheerful, affectionate companions suitable for all ages. Their thick coats demand regular grooming to prevent matting.
