The Artois Hound, sometimes described as precocious, is an exceptional hunting companion that requires ample exercise. It stands out from other French scent hounds due to its flat, open, pendant ears. Known for its strong directional sense, keen nose, precise pointing ability, speed, and determination, this breed traces its lineage back to the Great Artois Hound and the Saint Hubert, with some English influence. Once on the brink of extinction, this robust and fearless hunter of hare, deer, and boar was revived in the early 1990s, though it remains rare.
