Bulldog-type dogs were once commonly used as guardians on plantations in South Georgia. By the early 19th century, these dogs were nearly extinct, but dedicated breeding efforts over the following 200 years led to the revival of the type, resulting in the Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog. Still a rare breed, it is not widely recognized outside the United States. Muscular and fearless, this dog has strong protective instincts yet is highly trainable, making it a well-mannered and affectionate companion. Energetic and lively, it thrives with ample outdoor exercise.
