Originating in Yorkshire’s Aire River valley in the mid-19th century, it was developed by local hunters seeking a robust terrier capable of catching vermin and larger game like otters. Over time, the breed was used for guarding and military work, but it remains a popular companion. Friendly, intelligent, and full of personality, this dog loves the thrill of the chase and may get into mischief when bored.
